About Devon

Devon dual-wielding still cameras at a wedding

Christmas time during middle school my best friend received a small camcorder. From there began the late nights of dreaming up stories (usually parodies of the classics), filming, editing (who remembers Windows Movie Maker?), premiering with family, and starting the process again. Today, the process remains largely the same (even if the audience and gear changed a bit) - find a story, shoot it, edit, publish, start over.

I specialize as an editor for corporate & smaller commercial projects, though I frequently find myself behind the camera shooting what I’ll eventually be editing.

Solo, or in a small team, is how I generally work and because of this I’m required to have a working understanding of the various levels of production and the accompanying tools. With smaller teams I enjoy having collaborators and getting to know those that I’m with, sharing the project as a common goal.

Away from editing I frequent the forests, mountains, and open spaces near where I live: either by mountain bike or with my wife on foot - with a cup of coffee close at hand.

I blog a little of my work, and would honestly like to write more. It’s subjective to my experiences - what worked, didn’t, and the like. It’s a small way to talk though past projects and (hopefully) give back a little to others.
